Who is Prof. Dr. Olivera Injac

Prof. Dr. Olivera Injac, a distinguished academic and politician from Montenegro, has made significant strides in her career. Born in Podgorica in 1972, she has an impressive educational background, starting with her undergraduate studies at the University of Montenegro’s Faculty of Philosophy. Her academic journey continued with a master’s degree where she delved into the sociological dimensions of contemporary European terrorism. Her doctoral studies culminated in 2011 with a thesis on the cultural aspects of international security.

Professionally, Injac’s journey is marked by a blend of academic and governmental roles. Prior to joining academia, she worked at the Ministry of Interior in Montenegro from 1999 to 2008, contributing significantly to the security sector. Her academic career took off at the University of Donja Gorica, where she specialized in security studies, imparting knowledge on national and international security, security risks, and the culture of security. Her written contributions include numerous papers and books focusing on these areas.

Injac’s political career is notable, particularly her tenure as the Minister of Defence in the Montenegrin government from December 2020 to April 2022. Her leadership continued as she took on the role of Podgorica’s mayor in 2023, becoming the first woman to hold this position.
